Elizabeth Catlett’s Prints

I love me a great female artist (see Kollwitz or Walker) (although I also love great male artists.  I just love artists in general).  I came across Elizabeth Catlett’s work in a book I checked out recently, and although I believe she is more known for her sculpture, I fell in love with her prints.  I love the limits that prints pose and yet, how powerful the resulting images can be.  I always struggle with simplicity.  My inclination is to add more and more and more until I have to take a step back and realize I’ve added too much.  That sounds like a good life lesson as well :)  In the spirit of keeping it simple, I’ll end it there for today.  I’m excited to share some new stuff in the works with all of you soon!
